18 years ago, Cardinal Gilbert messed up big time in the capital and got demoted to this remote seaside town, Kynaston. He’s been running the church there for 20 years. The town’s gone from dead to booming, and Emily, who he adopted from the orphanage, is now turning 18.

But here’s the catch – the town hasn’t had a “Blessed Girl” (someone chosen by the goddess to be a saint) for ages. Without one, everything’s gonna go to crap again. Gilbert notices that Emily’s got the chops to be a saint, even though she wasn’t “blessed,” so he decides to make her one. Of course, the townsfolk don’t buy it and oppose her. He tells them that if she can’t win them over in two years, she’ll step down.

While all this is going down, some mysterious guy starts showing up and causing trouble at the church. He keeps slipping past Gilbert and his crew, and no one knows what he’s up to, which just adds more stress to the situation.

Now, there’s not much time left, and Emily’s got to prove she can break the whole “unblessed girls can’t be saints” myth. Can she do it? Will she make her dream come true?
