We’re just two guys who love video games, and we really wanted to play a horror game with dinosaurs—so we decided to make one ourselves! Any feedback you’ve got is super welcome, especially for future games we’ve got in the works.

You’re the prey in Unknown Tapes—a horror game that uses the found footage style to tell a survival story set in a modern world overrun by dinosaurs. It’s all about realism, and we took inspiration from classics like Dino Crisis and Outlast.

The game’s story plays out over 2-3 hours, and you’re constantly being hunted by dinosaurs. You’ll need to hide, stay quiet, and sometimes think on your feet.

Watch out—big dinosaurs can wreck buildings, so don’t expect to always find safety indoors.

Most of the game takes place at night, and you’ll be exploring both outdoor and indoor areas, some of which might give you that claustrophobic feeling.

We’ve used photogrammetry and Unreal Engine 5 to create super detailed urban environments. Ever wondered what it’d be like to walk through a town taken over by dinosaurs? Now you’ll know!

And yeah, we’ve added a cool feature: the dinosaurs can hear your voice! If you talk or shout in real life, they’ll pick it up and react.

We also used advanced photogrammetry software to bring real-world objects and environments into the game, so a lot of what you see actually exists outside of the game world.

Plus, we worked hard to make the camera movements feel real by digitizing them and integrating them into the game.
